Wilderness First Responder/WEMT
Our Instructor-led and hybrid wilderness medicine courses allow students to development Wilderness medical skills and certification in a realistic environment with expert instructors.
Following SurvivalMed curriculum, the course is taught over two or three full days including both lecture and practical skills based training with scenarios in a wilderness environment. Students have the opportunity to hone wilderness survival skills along with medical specialties.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receieve either WFR/WEMT ceritfication. Students seeking WEMT level certification must have state or national EMT certification submitted by the day prior to the course. While not required, it is highly recommended students have CPR/First Aid or BLS certification prior to class. WFR/WEMT certification is accredited for CEUs/CME.
WFR/WEMT Modules Include:
- basic life support
- circulatory and respiratory issues
- head and neurological injuries
- severe trauma
- soft tissue injuries
- OBGYN, chronic conditions, eye & tooth injuries in the wilderness
- improvisation techniques
- environmental injuries
- altitude, weather, and terrain
- animals, insects, and plants
